This “sin” Thing…

sinPaul reminds us as he writes to the Romans that sin is just that — a noun.  A named thing.   An entity:

Romans 5:12 — 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

We all have been infected with this “sin” thing.  Sin the noun then causes verbs.  Verbs such as:

Lying / gossiping / killing / stealing / etc.

When Paul writes in Romans that he finds himself struggling to do that which he knows is right he recognizes that it is this thing that has infected us at work.  Sin.

Grace and the Spirit of God gives us a new platform to work off of.  Instead of trying to fight sin and always trying to “do better” we instead revel in God’s Grace and try to please Him and Glorify God at every turn.  We seek to learn all there is to know about God and model ourselves after His examples and teachings.

We still encounter the “sin” thing — but instead of trying to do better we are allowing God to make us better.

Grace is another noun that causes verbs.  Verbs such as:

loving / caring / forgiving / praising / etc.

Something to think about…….
