In His Hands

Today is the day.  The doctors have injected and studied and prescribed.  Their magical instruments have been used to take pictures and study. The chemicals have worked at destroying the cancer.

Today they actually go in with knives and instruments and discover if what they believe is really true.  Today they remove the remaining cancer from Connie’s body.  At least that is the plan.

I know — the miracles of modern medicine.  It is a fairly simple procedure.  Only takes a couple hours.  Maybe an overnight stay.  Nothing to it.

Intellectually I get that.  Emotionally — well now I know just how frail those assurances have been for those in my position.  I have sat in the waiting room with countless families, giving them assurance, reminding them of how the doctors have great skill, etc.

Isaiah 49:15 written on the palm of God's hand
Isaiah 49:15 written on the palm of God’s hand

But bottom line only one thing brings comfort.  See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Isaiah 49:15.  No offense to the medical personnel.
No doubting their immense knowledge and skill.  I just cannot find any hope in anything else except that one promise.

Just a we write phone numbers, shopping lists, part numbers, or other “need to remember” items on our hands so that it is RIGHT THERE and not to be forgotten — so has God written Connie Hahlen on His palm.  He won’t forget.  He knows.

I have a Maker / He Formed My Heart
before even time began / my life was in hands

chorus
He knows my name / he knows my every thought / he sees each tear that falls
and hears me when I call

I have a father / he calls me his own
he’ll never leave me / no matter where I go

(chorus)
He knows my name / he knows my every thought / he sees each tear that falls
and hears me when I call

He hears me when I call….
He hears me when I call….
He hears me when I call….(you are my father and I love you)
He hears me when I call….(you are my father and I love you)
He hears me when I call….(you are my father and I love you)
He hears me when I call….(you are my father and I love you)

He knows my name
he knows my every thought
he sees each tear that falls
and hears me when I call
