The project is a MAJOR leap of faith on part of many. The existing congregation, the mission group, the lead planter, and others to be named later.
As we planned to meet we were almost literally quaking in our boots over the prospects.
I arrived at the coffee shop / cafe first. I staked out a table. Setup the laptop. Started to go order my coffee. A voice — an inkling told me to move to a semi-round booth a little further away.
I’m not sure why — but I did. As I sat down and prepped for the arrival of the other two in the meeting a group of 8 young people gathered RIGHT NEXT TO our table. They were talkative and RIGHT THERE. I began to regret the move.
Yet as the meeting progressed we realized — and they realized — both groups were talking spiritual matters and mission projects. After about 2 hours the group of young people were winding up and as they stood to leave one of the girls walked up as asked what we were planning.
Making a long story short — this encounter ended with 10 of us around a small booth. The youngsters laid hands on us and prayed for our success and for wisdom. They offered their help and contact info was given.
As they left us three “veterans” looked at each and agreed. No more fear — only a forward look.
God, I thank you for confirmation that what we are planning is a good thing. I also thank you for reminding me that a whole new generation of disciples is out there ready to do the radical and unexpected things we did 30 years ago.
God I pray that we will always find ways to work together.
In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.….And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2
